Brian S. Ottinger, 44, a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

He was born on August 6, 1980, in Berrien Springs, MI. Brian loved family, being outdoors, fishing and camping. He had a big personality and free spirit and was a proud native.

Surviving are his daughter – Ezra; significant other and mother of his daughter – Crystal Morseau; mother – Mary Wood; father – Tom Guntle; step-father – John Wood; siblings – Tonya Guntle, Travis Guntle, Ashley (Michael) Smith and Adam (Creasie) Wood; aunts & uncles – Robin (Walter) Peters, Paula (Fred) Schoff, Lyman Ottinger, Leroy Starrett, Mark Starrett, Orville Starrett; Robert Guntle Jr, and Sue Guntle; step-aunts and step-uncles – Sharon Landers, Jack Wood, and Dawn Drish; paternal grandmother – Jan Drouillard; paternal grandfather – Robert Sr (Fran) Guntle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Preceding him in death were his baby brother – Michael Wood; maternal grandparents – Lyle and Dorothy Starrett; aunt – Elaine Starrett; two uncles – Joe Guntle and Bruce Landers; step-grandmother – Maryann Drish; and step-grandfather – Floyd Wood.

Funeral services for Brian will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 19, at Pokagon Band Community Center, 27043 Potawatomi Trail, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, Dowagiac. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel - Starks Family Funeral Homes, Dowagiac.
