Bonnie's Obituary
Bonnie Lee McCarthy, 77, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 at her home in Dowagiac.
Bonnie was born on August 2, 1947, in Dowagiac, the daughter of the late Floyd and Virginia (Soule) Edgerly. She married Charles on December 14, 1968, and just recently celebrated 56 years beautiful years together. She was a cosmetologist who owned and operated Cleopatra’s Hair Hut in Cassopolis for over 40 years, closing in 2020. Throughout her life, Bonnie was known for her lifelong dedication to North Red Hill 4H, as a leader for 60 years. In addition, Bonnie was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.
Bonnie will be missed by her husband - Charles “Chuck” McCarthy; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (“Little” Bonnie Swan) McCarthy and Charles “Charlie” (Kim Howard) McCarthy; eight grandchildren – Danyell Roberts, Tonya Roberts, Elissa Roberts, Grace McCarthy, Isabell McCarthy, Katie Howard, Jamie Howard, and Ethan McCarthy; seven great-grandchildren – Isaiah, Atreus, Oliver, Persephone, Emelia, Jaxson and Wesley; brother – Burton (Jennifer) Edgerly; two sisters – Beverly Rajzer, and Betty (David) Groth; cousin, Wells Edgerly; brother-in-law – Mike Jendrasiak; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jendrasiak; and brother-in-law – Steve Rajzer.
A service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name may be directed to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
