Betty's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 8, 2024 at Berrien County Baptist Church, 5940 St. Joseph Ave., Stevensville, with Pastor Jim Whitman officiating. Private burial will take place at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the Family from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to Berrien County Baptist Church. Betty was born January 10, 1945 in Greenville, Kentucky to George T. & Wilda C. (Johnson) Pierce, Sr. Her family moved to Benton Harbor and she attended Benton Harbor Jr. High. On August 24, 1963, Betty married James “Paul” Looney in Benton Harbor. Betty devoted her life to caring for her family and home. Later in life she was employed for several years at Rite Aide in Bridgman. Betty was a member of Berrien County Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching movies, jigsaw & crossword puzzles, old cars, collecting dolls and decorating cakes for all occasions. Betty made the best fudge around, and cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children-Dennis (Renee) Looney & Lorie (Mike) Bronson, both of Bridgman; grandchildren-Rhiannon (Jacob) Olson, Jacob Looney, Alex Bronson, Evie (A.J. Hackett) Bronson, Jason Bronson & Ethan Bronson; brothers & sisters-George (Sheryl) Pierce, Jr. of Benton Harbor, Sharon Pierce of Madisonville, KY, Anita Henderson of Beaver Dam KY, David (Sherrie) Pierce of Madisonville, KY; brothers-in-law & sisters-in law-Jane Pierce of Jacksonville, Florida, Barbara (Douglas) Phillips of Lakeland, FL, John Looney & Gary (Terry) Looney, both of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on March 11, 2015, her parents George & Wilda, siblings-Barbara Joyce Nelson, Darlene Meador, Jerry Wayne Pierce, Howard “Scooter” Pierce, and her mother-in-law & father-in law Ethel & Rich Looney.
