Barbara's Obituary
Barbara A (Nixon) Scalf, 78, of Three Oaks, Michigan, went home with Jesus on Friday, May 13, 2022.
A celebration of life service will be held on her birthday at 11am on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Three Oaks United Methodist Church in Three Oaks, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Barb was born on May 28, 1943, in LaPorte, Indiana to the parents of Eleanor and Raymond Nixon. She had 3 brothers, Raymond, Marvin, and Wayne who have since passed away. She married Robert Scalf November 28, 1964. Barb dedicated most of her time raising their 3 children. She also worked as a bank teller and retired from Chemical Bank after 25 years of service. She then decided to volunteer her time at the River Valley Senior Center as a receptionist until she became ill.
She cherished time spent with her family and was an incredible wife, beloved mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed. She enjoyed taking her grandkids on adventures, especially to the root beer stand for corn dogs and root beer floats. She also loved to spend time with her many friends and often went to lunch with them. She had a love for animals and often took care of her granddogs. She had a cat named Kat who she spoiled all the time. When she wasn’t doing things for others, she loved crossword and word search puzzles. She often would play Words with Friends on the computer. She was a very special lady and will be dearly missed by all.
Barb is survived by her husband Bob; her daughter, Pam (Jim) Thompson, her son, Scott (Deann) Scalf, her son, Craig (LeAnn) Scalf, and her grandchildren Jourdan, Nick, Gabriel, Mia, and Gideon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the River Valley Senior Center, where my mom volunteered, or to your favorite charity in our mom’s memory.
