Arlene's Obituary

Arlene P. Henderson, 89, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Caretel Inns.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 3PM, at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs. Arlene will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Memorial Church- World Budget, Missions, 8655 University Blvd., Berrien Springs.

Arlene was born on October 5, 1932, to Weert & Katherine (Lamp) Goldenstein in Elgin, IL. She graduated from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, CA, and then continued her education at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA. On October 30, 1953, Arlene married T. J. Henderson Jr., in Orange County, CA.

During their lifetime, Arlene and TJ were devoted to their shared faith, working at Monterey Bay Academy and Pacific Union College in California before ultimately serving as missionaries for the Adventist Church in both Africa and Brazil. After moving to Berrien Springs, MI, they joined Pioneer Memorial Church where Arlene volunteered in the Welcome Center each Sabbath. In her spare time, she enjoyed bird watching, writing, cooking, and curating a beautiful home which she enjoyed sharing with friends and family.

Arlene is survived by her children, Michael Henderson of Sebastopol, CA, Jonathan Henderson of Redway, CA, and David (Judi) Henderson of McDonald, TN; grandchildren Sarah (John) Church, Caleb and Jerren Henderson, and Christina (John) Cloutier.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, T.J., parents, Weert & Katherine Goldenstein, and her siblings.
