Alva Verdell “Al” Pennington, 87, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2PM Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Bill Bridgman officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Al was born October 13, 1937 in Bradford, Arkansas to William “Pat” & Pearl Pennington. He moved to St. Joseph with his family in the 1950’s. Al was employed as a cab driver for many years for both Twin City Cab & Advance Cab Co.
Al is survived by his sister-in-law Lou Ann Pennington of Columbus, OH; his nephew Brian (Krissy) Pennington & niece Sarah Pennington; several great-nieces & nephews, and many friends around town. He was preceded in death by his parents Pat & Pearl Pennington, his brother Dale Pennington, and his nephew Corey Pennington.
