Albert's Obituary

Albert Liedtke, 84, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Thursday – October 17, 2024, at Corewell Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.

Albert was born on August 26, 1940 in Glovina, Poland to German parents, Karl and Helene (Bonkowski) Liedtke. He came to the U.S. in 1951 and moved to Benton Harbor in 1952. His life was dedicated to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who was the constant and driving purpose in all of his life‘s journey. After graduation from Benton Harbor High School in 1959, he began his career in construction, which led to his trade as a journeyman electrician in the greater Michiana area including Cook Nuclear for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member at the Blue Roof First Assembly of God, serving in various capacities, including Church Board Member, Sunday School
Superintendent/Teacher and many outreach ministries in the community and beyond, praying over and blessing many people. After retirement, he and his wife, Diana traveled internationally, volunteering help and sharing the love of Jesus.

Albert is survived by his wife Diana Lynn (Kleiner) Liedtke; children – Jonathan (Vickie) Liedtke of Coloma, MI, Mark (LeAnn) Henry of Pendleton, IN, David Henry of Toledo, OH and Debra (Tyler) Bragg of Newport News, VA; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother – Paul (Irmgard) Liedtke of Bielefeld, Germany; and sisters – Erna Mueller of Bedford, OH and Gisela (Robert) McClure of Belleview, FL. He is preceded in death by his first wife – Barbara (Jones) Liedtke; brothers – Robert and Arnold; and sisters – Clara and Aline.

Visitation with the family is on Friday – November 1, from 5:00-7:30pm, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service is on Saturday – November 2, 11:00am, at the Blue Roof Church/First Assembly – 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Pastor Nathan Bloomfield and nephew, Pastor Robert Stiem officiating. Burial follows at North Shore Memory Gardens.
