Albert Richard “Dick” Killips, 85, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away on Thursday – March 21, 2024 at the Addison Pointe Nursing Home in Chesterton, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Dick was born on April 5, 1938 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to the late Edward and Thelma (Bernier) Killips. He was a graduate of Loretto Catholic High School in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Dick served his country while in the Michigan National Guard. On October 19, 1957 he married Mary Lou Vincenzetti. Dick was a steel worker at Bethlehem Steel for 34 years. He was a member of the New Buffalo American Legion Post #169 and a member of the VFW in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. Dick also volunteered with the New Buffalo Township Fire Department and was a member of the Moose Lodge #980 in Michigan City.
Dick is survived by his wife of 66 years - Mary Lou, son – Rich (Margaret) Killips of Three Oaks, MI; his granddaughter – Maura Killips of Three Oaks; and two sisters – Mary (Bill) Conrad and Maggie (Tom-deceased) Baglenorth. Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers – Edward (Rose-deceased), Harry (Annette), Don (Joan), Joseph/Toby (Marilyn), Frank, Paul and Jack (Rosemary), sisters – Nancy (Cecil) Jones and Patsy (Bert-deceased) Hazen; and granddaughter Katherine Killips. Dick also has 38 nieces/nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held with Dick’s final resting place being at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo, time and date to be determined.
