Charles Edward Peterson, Jr.

Charles Edward Peterson, Jr., 45, of Kalamazoo, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Wings Home in Allegan. He was born February 25, 1974 to Charles and Patrice (Prince) Peterson in Watervliet. He attended Covert Public Schools of Covert Michigan. He later met and married Dawneen.

He worked as a master mechanic in Muncie, Indiana for many years before moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he worked for Seelye Wright of Kalamazoo and other businesses before running his own business as a mechanic.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother Patrice Prince, sister Tanisha Peterson, niece Alivia Peterson, paternal grandparents Willie and Rosie Lee Peterson, maternal grandparents Luther Franklin and Layonteen Wanda McMiller Prince, and uncle Benjamin Peterson.

Charles is survived by his wife Dawneen Peterson, children - Aleaha, Charles (Khalil) III, Amirri, Charles Sylvester, Jerimiah, Tyron Peterson; stepchildren – Amous and Aunjara Jones, and Jasmine Martin; sister – Anita Shari Peterson; niece – Zubaidah Fulani Brown; nephews – Afronie Hausley, A’Mary Peterson, A’Mary Peterson, Jr.; father – Charles (Joyce) Edward Peterson, Sr.; special friends – Michelle Locket and Kristie Brouwer; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

Wake will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Gospel Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Covert. Funeral services will follow the wake at 12:00 PM with Pastor Henry Allen officiating at the church. Charles will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery.
