Cloise "Curly"'s Obituary

 

Cloise “Curly” Percy Johnson, 93, of South Haven, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born March 14, 1925 to Fredrick John and Leona (Byron) Johnson in Curtis, Michigan.  Curly served his country during in the Navy during World War II on the ship USS PC570 in the South Pacific.  Curly married Jeanette "Jan" Parrish on November 17, 1972 at Peace Temple United Methodist Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan.   Curly worked as a plumber pipe fitter Union Local 174 for fifty years. He was a member of the Shriners, St. Joseph Lodge and First United Methodist Church of South Haven.  Curly enjoyed vegetable gardening, liked to dance, and loved to socialize and talk with others. He and Jan spent winters in Florida for 23 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, children- David Johnson and Claudia Johnson, and siblings- Fredrick Johnson, Bettie May Johnson, James Johnson, and Shirley Johnson

Curly is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Jan” Johnson, children – Sandy (Tim) Mielke of South Haven, Will Hays of South Haven, Roger (Nancy) Johnson of Muskegon, and Alan (Sandy) Johnson of Muskegon, grandchildren – Chloe, Kelly, Candie, Jennifer, Corey, and Wesley, and great grandchildren – Owen, Macy, Jatlyn, and Kylie.


A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in South Haven with Pastor Virginia Heller officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N.
