Michael Joseph Cullum

Michael Joseph Cullum, 38, of McDonald, MI in Bangor Township, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 14, 2018.  Mike was born in South Haven, MI on August 31, 1979 to Eddie and Debbie Swanner. 

Mike was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything no matter how long it took, because he never gave up.  Some of his best times were working on their Saturn and his prized possession "Red", his Chevy truck.  The look of pride on his face when those engines would fire up was priceless.

Michael worked different jobs around the area including Wesco, Pizza Hut, and South Haven Finishing; where he met the love of his life, Missy.  

Mike enjoyed chilling with his friends at his home; many of whom he considered family. 

He was most at peace when he was driving "Red" with his girl, dog, and Mt. Dew by his side.  They loved having a sunset dinner on their boat just floating on the lake.  Mike was a hard worker, always making sure those around him were taken care of before himself. He would and has literally given the shirt off his back to someone in need. 

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Swanner of Mcdonald, MI.  He is survived by his fiance, Melissa Watkins of Bangor, MI.  His mother, Debbie Swanner, of Benton Harbor, MI. The only child he had, his loyal companion, T Bear Cullum; and special friends Stephanie Stainbrook and Dustin Carter and honorary nephew, D.J. “Flathead” Carter.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with Pastor William Richardson officiating. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family's online guestbook.
