David Clarence Biedermann

David's Obituary

David Clarence Biedermann, 78, beloved husband of the late Sheila (nee Gold) of South Haven, Michigan and former resident of Frankfort, Illinois, passed on October 6, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with throat cancer.

Born in Chicago on May 31, 1939, to Dorthea and Lawrence Biedermann, Dave was raised in the South Shore neighborhood.  He attended Mt. Carmel High School and met his wife, Sheila, during these years.  They were married on October 24, 1959.  Dave served as a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corp from July 1957 to July 1959.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #134 before he became a successful businessman and owner of currency exchanges. After raising their four children in the Chicago area, they moved to South Haven, MI.

Dave was an active parishioner at St. Basil’s Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister; he was also involved with SHOUT South Haven and the Knights of Columbus.

Dave is survived by his  four children Robin Biedermann Elm (Steve) of Greensboro, GA; Stacy Biedermann O’Brien (Terry) of Greenville, SC; Michael Biedermann (Karen) of Glenview, IL and Steven Biedermann (Kuenley Paeden) of Thimphu, Bhutan; grandchildren Laurel, Michael, Elliott, and Reagan Elm; Mackenzie, Madison, and Murphy O’Brien; Quinten, Grace, Owen , and Dylan Biedermann; Kesang Dhendup and Dechen Choden; great-grandson Gedhuen Yarphel Chophel Dorji; brother of Barbara (Donald) Cassidy, Roberta Solczyk; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sheila (nee Gold), parents Dorthea and Lawrence, and three grandchildren Morgan Darrah and Austin Elm, and Tashi Chophel; siblings Rita (the late Neil) Linehan; Francis (the late Kay) Biedermann, Anita (the late Babe) Smith and Jerry (the late Mary) Biedermann.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at St. Basil’s Catholic Church in South Haven, Michigan on Wednesday, November 22nd with visitation beginning at 10:00am followed by his funeral mass at 11:00am.
