Brady's Obituary
Brady Phillip Olds, 35 of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Swedish Edmonds Hospital in Edmonds, Washington with his family and girlfriend by his side. He was born April 21, 1981 to Brian and Denise (Brown) Olds in Holland, Michigan. Brady was a 1999 graduate of South Haven High School where he enjoyed being a percussionist in both the South Haven and jazz band. He went on to perform with several bands in the South Haven area including Roundboy, Bravo Ranks and Rasta Cowboys. During his 16-year residency in Seattle, Washington, Brady performed with several bands including Mind Candy and the Greedies. He also enjoyed working professionally as a Sous Chef and Chef for many years and was known for his fusion dishes. During his earlier years, Brady and his father joined Boy Scout Troop 199, where he enjoyed camping at the Rota-Kiwan Reservation. He earned several badges including archery, swimming, camping, canoeing and first aid. His love for camping began in the upper peninsula of Michigan during family vacations. This passion followed him to Seattle, where he spent much of his time in the Cascade mountain range with friends.
He is survived by his parents – Brian and Denise Olds, sister – Renee (Sean) Russell of South Haven, grandmother – Olga Olds of Bangor, girlfriend – Nicki Rox of Mountlake Terrace, Washington, aunts – Susan (Gordy) Nienhuis of South Haven, Dixie (Larry) Billings of Fennville, and Carrie (Dennis) Thompson of St. Joseph, niece and nephew – Haven and Dominic Russell and multiple cousins.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow visitation at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Brady will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Swedish Edmonds Hospital for their excellent support and care for Brady. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brady’s memory to the Swedish Medical Center Foundation, 747 Broadway, Seattle, Washington 98122. In keeping with Brady’s passion for music, memorial donations can also be made to the South Haven Instrumental Music Boosters, 600 Elkenburg Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
