Blanche's Obituary
Blanche Higgs, 79, of Grand Junction, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her home where she was at peace and prepared for when God called her home. She was born June 21, 1937 to Cecil and Ruth (Thorpe) Mason in Covert. Blanche married Hoyt Higgs on July 28, 1956 and shared 54 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Blanche was a member of the First Church of God in South Haven.
She is preceded in death by her husband – Hoyt Higgs, Sr., three grandchildren – Jimmie Jean and Amanda Rawson and Jeremy Zeigler, great-grandson – Lionel, and sister – Sharon Ponicki.
Blanche is survived by her children – Cecil Higgs of Lawrence, Michigan, Bob Higgs of Coloma, Shiron Fay (Eric) Thompson of Grand Junction, Janie (Victor) Rawson, Sr. of Pullman, Hoyt Higgs, Jr. of Grand Junction, and brothers – Bob and Dan Mason. Eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the First Church of God in South Haven with Pastor Steve Starks officiating. Blanche will be laid to rest at Lee Township Cemetery next to her husband Hoyt.
