Lamar's Obituary
Lamar Vashon Thomas, 38, of Chicago, Illinois, affectionately known as “Money” to his family and friends, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on February 10, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois to Alice Thomas-Lovelace. Lamar married Kimberly M. Carter on November 16, 2002. Lamar became dad to Kimberly’s four-year-old son and four additional children were born of this union.
Lamar confessed Christ in June of 2002 and was baptized at Upright Baptist Church in Chicago Illinois. He and his family moved to South Haven, Michigan in August of 2003 where Lamar became very active in the church. He served as Deacon, Board Member and Armor Bearer under two pastors before becoming Armor Bearer and Deacon to Darwin L. Johnson of Greater Anointing Bible Church for many years. From his time of service, the two formed a great bond and baptized Lamar’s oldest daughter together.
Lamar was known for his signature baseball caps, love of different watches and his corny sense of humor. Lamar could make you laugh even if the jokes weren’t that funny. He had an awesome, lean on you and laugh, way about him that was truly unique.
