Kyle James Shinske

Kyle James Shinske, 27, of South Haven, MI, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014. He was born December 18, 1986 in South Haven, Michigan to Thomas and Laura (Schulz) Shinske. Kyle was a 2005 South Haven High School graduate. Kyle was currently taking classes at Southwestern Michigan College in the nursing program.

 Kyle enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and kayaking.  He loved nature in its purist form; he would discover locations that most people would never see. Kyle made it a mission to track his Grandpa Schulz’s footsteps by hunting and fishing through the Allegan woods. Kyle explored everywhere from the mountains of Moab, Utah to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, down to canyons of Northern Mexico.

Kyle had a gentle sensitivity about him and he was able to connect with and touch the residents at Countryside Nursing Home. He knew when to use humor to touch others’ lives and bring laughter to hard times. His sensitivity allowed him to embrace the beauty of the outdoors during the Outward Bound adventures as well as connect with the other students and staff. Kyle was able to capture the beautiful details of humanness and nature in his art. Kyle’s physical ability always was a source of amusement for family and friends. He would get stuck up in trees and do impressive flips on beach. Because of Kyle’s special sensitivity and ability to connect with others, all of his family remember having their own special connection with him. Kyle would give the shirt off his back for others and demonstrated that over and over again with his friends and family as well as any random person he encountered in need.

Kyle is preceded in death by his grandparents - Ken and Jean Shinske.

He is survived by his parents, his grandparents - Don and Ruth Schulz of South Haven. Siblings - Morgan (Nate) Taylor of San Diego, California and Adam (Sarah) Shinske of Tucson, Arizona. One niece - Lilah Shinske. Several other family members survive.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Kyle will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Memorial contributions may be made to Outward Bound at 21 Old Main Street, Suite 208, Fishkill, NY 12524.
