Burton R. Sherman

Burton R. Sherman, 93, of South Haven, Michigan, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Amber Way Dementia Alzheimer's Facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born July 22, 1921 to Rupert and Gladys (Myers) Sherman in South Haven, Michigan. On December 15, 1946, Burt married the love of his life, Madalyn Warren, who passed away January 30, 2002. He was the past president of Sherman Dairy as well as a past president of the Southwest Michigan Dairy Association. He worked as a sales representative for Mohawk Refinishing Products. He was also a World War II Navy veteran and participated in the Normandy invasion, where his ship was bombed and sunk. Burt was also a member of the First Congregational Church UCC of South Haven.

Burt is also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Rupert "Tim" Sherman Jr. and Porter Sherman.

He is survived by his children; Janet (Dave) Lynam of South Haven, MI. Linda Marble of Galesburg, MI. Susan (Jerry) Meeuwenberg of Nunica, MI. Brother; Gerald Sherman of South Haven. Sister-in-law Margie Cornelius of Rice, MN. Grandchildren; Jon Burton (Lynn) Meeuwenberg. Jennifer (Jason) Blake. Eric Lynam. Jaime (James Panek) Lynam. Great-grandchildren; Aiden, Alexiea, Coleson, Brian, Tyus, and Laina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. to 1:30P.M. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick. Burt will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven, MI. Memorial contributions may be made in Burton's name to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
