Rev. Andrew Davis Sr. was born December 15, 1931, in St. Louis, MO to the late Lonzo and Rosie (Clark) Davis.  He was the third of five children that were born to this union.   He served in the United States Air Force for three years in Victorville, CA as an E-6 Specialist 4- 143rd Engineer Detachment and received an Honorable Discharge. He was ordained on November 3rd, 1957 at the age of 25 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Carrier Mills, IL.  As an ordained minister, he had a gift for leading and he was the pastor of the following churches during his career: Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Carrier Mills, IL (1957-1960), Friendship Church, St. Louis, MO (1960-1963), Galilee M.B. Church, Dowagiac, MI (1968-1969), Olive Grove Baptist Church, Gary, IN (1993-1996).  He was also a member of the International F & A.M. Masons

In February of 1966, he met his current wife of 47 years, the former Eddie Mae Higgins in St. Louis, MO. They were married on August 22, 1966.  They relocated to Benton Harbor, MI soon after their marriage. It is in this city that they started their family.   He was an associate minister to a number of churches in the Benton Harbor area including: New Paradise Baptist Church (Rev. Willie Burton, Pastor) and Fellowship Baptist Mission Church (Rev. William Caldwell, Pastor).  He also spent a number of years as an evangelist minister traveling to many churches in the Midwest preaching about the power of God and how we could learn to love the God who first loved us. In 2005, he and his wife relocated to Phoenix, AZ. 

Rev. Andrew Davis passed away on a beautiful Sunday evening (his favorite day of the week), March 9, 2014, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers James and Russell, his first son Andrew “Albert” Davis, Jr. and his first wife, Callie King, of St. Louis, Mo.

Andrew leaves to cherish his precious, unforgettable memories: his loving wife of 48 years, Eddie Mae Davis (Mesa, AZ),  one brother, Anthony Davis- Arlington, MD, one sister- Arlene Robertson- St. Louis, MO: five daughters, Sonjia (Brevell) Wright & Wanda Davis -St. Louis MO, Irma Niecy Jones & Kim Marion (Patrick)- Milwaukee WI, Bernastine Rice- Mesa, AZ; eight sons- Eugene (Cheryl) Jones -Van Nuys, CA, Andre (Doris) Davis - Coloma, MI, Darryl Davis- Ft. Wayne, IN, Orell Davis & Terry Davis- Milwaukee, WI, Anthony Davis- Mesa, AZ, Andrew J. (LaShunda) Davis- Gilbert, AZ, Tim (Tashion) Davis - Benton Harbor, MI.   He is survived by 36 Grandchildren, 39 Great grandchildren, 3 Great-great grandchildren, his former wife, Laviena Bernice Davis and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wake will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Benton Harbor. Funeral services will follow wake at 11:00 AM with services concluding at the church.
