Larry Carlson

Larry Carlson, 72, of South Haven, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at South Haven Health Systems. He was born April 2, 1941 to John Edward and Emily Margaret (Basich) Carlson in Benton Harbor.  Larry graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1959.  He served as a volunteer fire fighter for Sodus Township.  In his earlier years, Larry worked at Cadilac Overalls Supply Co. in Benton Harbor.   He married Carolyn Coombe  on July 20, 1996 in Baldwin, Michigan. Larry owned and operated Carlson Associates Realators for over forty years until retiring in 2012. Larry was a past commander of the Sons of the Legion  He was a member of the South Haven American Legion Post  #49. Larry loved to golf and his Corvette.  He was formerly a member of the Corvette Club.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by a daughter – Tricia Carlson who passed in 1990 and sister – Linda Carlson who passed in 2011.

Larry is survived by his wife – Carolyn Carlson and children – Duane Carlson of Sodus, Terry (Julie) Carlson of Sister Lakes, Greg Bradford of Bald Knob, Arkansas, Tony (Bobbie Jo) Newberry of Allegan, and Terry (Connie) Newberry of South Haven. Brothers – Randy Carlson of Benton Harbor and Jerry (Glenda) Carlson of Branch, MI. 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on October 3, 2013  at the funeral home with Pastor Theron Crawford officiating. Contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to his wife, Carolyn. Larry will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus.
