Edwina's Obituary

Edwina Watkins, 69, of Hartford, died Wednesday, December 5 at her home after a short illness. She was born on June 11, 1943 to Cletis and Flora Mae Moss in Cardwell, Missouri. She moved to Michigan with her family in 1952 when she was eight years old. She worked on her uncle Oral Jones fruit farm as she was growing up. Edwina was a 1961 graduate of Covert High School. On September 30, 1961, she married Jack Watkins and she was always an adoring, faithful and loving wife for 51 years. She was very grateful to be a stay at home mom with her three children and she also helped her husband run their blue berry farm in the summer time.

Edwina enjoyed going to their condo in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and vacationing with her family there. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends. Her hobbies included baking, going to antique shops, sewing, going to lunch with her lady friends and taking care of her yard where she had beautiful rhododendrons, azalea bushes and blooming iris plants. She was a faithful member of Covert Congregational Church where her and Jack were married and she had been attending since high school. She was in the Women’s Church Club and hosted their Christmas luncheons for many years which brought her a lot of pride and pleasure. She was also a member of her Secret Pal Club for many years and enjoyed and looked forward to every gathering with her girls. Edwina was faithful in keeping in touch with her relatives that she left behind in the southern states and took time to go back and visit them over the years. She also had a lot of family reunions at her home which brought everyone back together for good food and conversation.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
