James Joseph's Obituary
James Joseph Quinn, 87, of South Haven died Monday, October 30 at his home.
Jim was born September 6, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to Dehila and James Quinn. He graduated from DaPaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Jim married Charlotte Loher on January 2, 1947. He served his country as a Lt. JG in the U S Navy and was commander of the LCT, a small landing craft, during World War II. Jim spent most of his life as a building contractor. For 24 years he was Vice President in charge of all construction of New Orleans East. He built high rises, shopping centers, housing, water and sewer developments and streets. He also worked in Illinois. Jim and Charlotte retired to Panama City Beach, Florida for 12 years before coming to South Haven to be closer to their family. Jim enjoyed fishing and spent many hours wood working. He was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church and the VFW.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by one son – Francis and 8 siblings.
He is survived by his wife – Charlotte Quinn of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Thomas M. (Lynn) Quinn of Allegan, Michigan and Christopher J. (Susie) Quinn of Dublin, Ohio. Four grandchildren – Jessica (Kevin) McCadam of Powell, Ohio, Christopher J. Quinn Jr. of Dublin, Ohio who was just signed by the professional basketball team “Miami Heat”, Britney Quinn of Dublin, Ohio and Eric Quinn of Allegan, Michigan. One great grandchild – Mia McCadam of Powell, Ohio. One sister – Dehlia Foley of Florida also survives.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 31 at St. Basil Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Father John Young officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to South Haven Area Hospice. Kindly share your thoughts and memories on the family’s online guest book at www.FilbrandtFFH.com.
