Robert A.'s Obituary
Robert A. Begel, 80, of South Haven died Saturday, November 29 in Grand Junction.
He was born July 10, 1928 in Jackson, Michigan to Adolph and Coletta A. (Morrison) Begel. Robert grew up in Jackson, Michigan. Following high school Robert was a Michigan State Police Trooper. Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He attended Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. Robert married Margaret Beach on July 21, 1963 in Valdosta, Georgia. Robert worked as a mechanical engineer at the Steel Center in South Haven. Robert loved to spend time with his grandchildren, golf and read mysteries.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by his son – Charles Begel. And a brother – Richard A. Begel.
He is survived by his wife – Margaret Begel of South Haven, Michigan. One daughter – Chris (Ron) Bus of Grand Junction, Michigan. One son – Robert A. (Carla) Begel Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida. Four grandchildren – Drea Smith, Johathan Bus, Nathan Bus, and Emily Bus. Four great grandchildren – Jessica, Devon, Alex and Cameron. One sister – Shirley (William) Yother of Mesa, Arizona. Two nieces and Three nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Duane Jones officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation.
