Margaret "Margo"'s Obituary

Margaret “Margo” S. Sherman, 85, of South Haven died Monday, April 19 at Lakeland Regional Hospital in St. Joseph.

She was born October 15, 1924 in Ingham County, Michigan to Louis and Mary (Swider) Horski. Margo married Gerald A. Sherman on April 3, 1948 in East Lansing, Michigan. Margo graduated from Michigan State University and began teaching at Covert High School in the fall of 1948. She was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven where she was active in the St. Basil Women’s Service Guild and a past member of the St. Basil Educational Endowment Fund. She was also a member of the South Haven Scott Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and golf.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joseph Horski and Edward Horski.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Sherman of South Haven, Michigan. One son - Daniel W. (Meg) Sherman of Valparaiso, Indiana and two daughters - Beverly A. (Woody) Edwards of Louisville, Kentucky and Diane L. (Barry) Skuza of South Haven, Michigan. Ten grandchildren – Emily (Monty) Fields, Joshua Edwards, 1LT Jonathan Edwards, Joseph Skuza, Andrew Skuza, Daniel Skuza, Jacob Sherman , Katie Sherman, Annie Sherman and Bridget Sherman; one brother, Maurice Horski of Holt, Michigan, two sisters – Betty Figg of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Barbara Page of Ft. Collins, Colorado, a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly also survived.

Visitation will be from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 on Friday, April 23 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Building Fund or South Haven Scott Club.
