Dr. Lester L.'s Obituary
Dr. Lester L. Adkin, 62, of Cadillac, formerly of South Haven, Died peacefully at home.
He was born December 16, 1947 in South Haven, Michigan to Clare and Doris Adkin. Lester graduated as Valedictorian with a 4.0 gpa in 1966 from South Haven’s L.C. Mohr High School. He then attended Kalamazoo College, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. He received his Doctorate from University of Michigan and practiced Dentistry for 34 years. Lester married Wanda Wilsey on August 2, 2003 in South Haven, Michigan. Lester was very active in church, schools and numerous local service organizations. He was a member of the Cherry Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Casco Township Fire Department, United Methodist Church of Cadillac and Casco, Wexford/Missaukee ISD and Career Tech Center. Lester loved being a dentist and all of his patients.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife – Wanda Adkin of Cadillac, Michigan. two children – Sara (Charlie Payne) Adkin of Cadillac, Michigan and Adam Adkin of Portland, Oregon. Step-children – Denise (Ray Naylor) Tomlinson of Arcadia, Florida, and Benjamin Wilsey of Grand Junction, Michigan. Grandchildren - Mara Wilsey, Lucas, Benjaman and Geoffrey Enyeart. One brother – Clare (Sally) Adkin of Durham, North Carolina and two sisters – Suzanne Asher of Greenville, South Carolina and Darla (Gary) Johnson of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10 from 6 – 8 at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, Michigan. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the Peterson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Cherry Grove or Casco Township Volunteer Fire Departments, The ASPCA, Humane Society of the United Sates or the local animal shelter.
