John Filbrandt

John Colen Filbrandt, 59, of South Haven passed away Thursday, September 22 at home.

He was born October 10, 1951 in South Haven, Michigan to Howard and Paula (Allers) Filbrandt. John graduated from South Haven High School in 1970. He married Christina Koestner on July 28, 1972. John was the plant manager for Consumers Concrete in South Haven. John was a member of St. Basil Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, South Haven’s Men’s Chorus and the Steelheaders. John was an original member of the South Haven’s Alumni Marching Band. John’s favorite activities include golf, fishing, bowling, morel mushroom hunting, horseshoes and spending time on his boat “Our Limit.” For many years, John also coached Little League baseball.

He is preceded in death by his sister – Deb Richardson.

He is survived by his wife – Chris Filbrandt of South Haven, Michigan. One daughter – Lilah (Peter) Ambrosi of Suwanee, Georgia. Four sons – John (Amy) Filbrandt, Jake (April) Filbrandt both of South Haven, Michigan, Joe Filbrandt of Stauanger, Norway and Jordan (Elise) Filbrandt of Key West, Florida. Seven grandchildren – Mia, Luca, Giselle, Alexia, Kaleb, Julius and Isaac. His parents – Howard and Paula Filbrandt of South Haven, Michigan. One sister – Polly (Gary) Plankenhorn and one brother – Mark (Donna) Filbrandt both of South Haven, Michigan.

Visitation will be Monday, September 26 from 5 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Basil Catholic Church with Rev. Father Robert Flickinger officiating. Private burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Basil Educational Endowment Fund or South Haven Hospice at Home.
