Miriam Elsie Priebe

Miriam Elsie Priebe, 86, passed away on September 11, 2021, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan. She was born May 12, 1935, in Watervliet to Emil and Elsie (Rupple) Weiss. Miriam was a lifelong resident of southwestern Michigan. After graduation from Benton Harbor High School in 1953, Miriam worked at Sears. On February 13, 1954, she married Sieghard Priebe after he returned from serving in the Army in the Korean War. As a stay-at-home mom for many years, she cultivated a large garden, created and sold crafts, cared for her children, and served at church. Later she worked at Fifth Third Bank (formerly Old Kent). Miriam enjoyed gardening, cooking, and serving others. She delighted in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Miriam is survived by her husband Sieghard, her children, Lynelle Watford (Trent) of St. Joseph, Michigan; Steven Priebe (Karen) of Nesbit, Mississippi; and Nancy Rooker (Richard) of Warsaw, Indiana; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Emily Floyd (Harold), and James Weiss (Violet). She was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings Robert Weiss, Fredrick Weiss and Joyce Weiss Chesnut and by grandson Nathan Watford. Friends are invited to a visitation at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, with a service following at 11:30 a.m. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastors Jim Oakley and Dave Londot officiating.
