Doris (Wyant) Versaw, 91, of Sodus, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 30, 2020.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 3, 2020, at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, 245 W. Napier Ave, Benton Harbor, MI. with Reverend Dan Golladay officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. Doris was born November 6, 1928 in Cass County Michigan to Clarence & Anna (Sommer) Wyant. On January 17, 1948, she married Robert Versaw at Clay Street Baptist Church. She was a farmer, first as a child and then with Robert, growing fruit at the farm in Sodus township that has been in the family for over 160 years. Doris loved children and taught 4 and 5 year olds in the Junior Church for 32 years and Pioneer Girls. She also drove a bus for Berrien Intermediate Schools for 16 ½ years. Doris was a member of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, 4H and Jr Farm Bureau.
Doris is survived by her daughter; Sharon Versaw of Sodus MI., son in law Randy Rumble; sister in law Donna Wyant; Special friends, Earl Kugle, Ray Watts, Gentry Phillips, Phil Webb, Jim & Mary Jean Barsuhn, Barbie Kosachuk, Betty Oatsvall, Irene Adams and Dina Layman; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Bonnie Rumble, sister; Hazel Hinkle; brothers; Oscar, Harry and Victor Wyant.
