Richard D. Flenar

Richard D. Flenar, 67, of Buchanan, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at his home. He was born March 16, 1943 to the late Otis M. and Beatrice E. (Neal) Flenar. On July 11, 1981, in Buchanan, he married his wife, Karen. Surviving is his wife, Karen Flenar; children, Jeff (Cindy) Flenar of Flower Mound, TX, Jim (Kelly) Flenar of Niles, Tammy McKee of Buchanan, Melissa Poole of Buchanan and Scott Prince of Hillsboro, IL; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.Dick retired from the City of Buchanan where he worked as the sexton at Oak Ridge Cemetery, head of the street department, and then in recycling. He was a member of the American Legion Post #51 and the Moose #449 both of Buchanan. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid University of Michigan fan. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 10:30am at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Pastor Charles Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan.
