Lina's Obituary

Lina Mae Payne, age 86 of Galien, Michigan , died Friday as the results of an automobile accident. Lina was born August 22, 1924 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Richard and Elizabeth Abel De Freeze on June 28th, 1946 in Niles, Michigan. She married Robert L. Payne, who preceded her in death in 1989. Surviving are three daughters, Karen Flenar, Linda (Ron) Cornelius and Rose (Frank) Mucha all of Buchanan, Mi. A daughter, Deborah Payne, preceded her in death in 1968. Also surviving is a son, Robert W. (Donna) Payne of Galien; four brothers, Charles De Freeze and Donald (Charlotte) De Freeze both of Buchanan, Richard De Freeze and Robert De Freeze both of Galien; 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A sister, Kathryn Tees, preceded her in death.During WWII Lina served as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. Her hobbies included working in her garden, reading, cooking and sewing. Services for Lina will be held Wednesday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan, with Pastor Rob McPherson of First United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday the 5th from 4-8 p.m. also at Swem Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be of the donor's choice.
