Edith's Obituary

Edith's life began on April 7, 1913 in Chicago, the daughter of Paul and Agnes Mercsanits. She was united in marriage to William M. Boehm on June 5, 1937 in Chicago. Edith worked as a bookkeeper for Dowsett Spring Company, Lee Memorial Hospital and Hayden Beardsley Ford. She was a devoted wife and mother, who was deeply involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was a faithful parishioner of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church and a member and former president of the Altar and Rosary Society at the church. Her loving family includes her daughter Edith (Tom) Carey of Dowagiac, and grandchildren John, Alexandra, Nicholas and Elena Carey, all of Dowagiac. Edith passed away on Monday February 22, 2010 at Forest Glen Assisted Living. She is preceded in death by her husband William in 1968, her daughter Paulette M. Boehm in 1989, sisters Mary Boehm, and Margie TenNaple, and brothers Paul and Felix Mercsanits. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where Father Leo Taubitz will conduct a Rosary service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Taubitz on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Altar and Rosary Society of Holy Maternity of Mary or Hospice at Home.
