Greg's Obituary
Greg's life began on May 29, 1949 in Dowagiac, the son of Kenneth E. and Harriett (Knowles) Clark. He was a 1967 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. Greg served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning a combat infantryman medal and two bronze stars for his efforts. Greg worked as the golf course superintendent at Diamond Lake Golf Club in Cassopolis, the superintendent at the Dowagiac Elk's Lodge golf course and also worked and retired as a die cast set up man and machinist at ICG (Du-Wel) Castings in Dowagiac. Greg served as the president of the labor union at ICG, as well. He was united in marriage to the former Karen Middleton on May 18, 2002 at the “lake†in Dowagiac. He was a member of VFW Post 1855, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, the Dowagiac Moose Lodge #933 and the Dowagiac Conservation Club. Greg was an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hunting and fishing, especially fishing with his grandchildren. Greg's loving family includes his wife Karen Clark of Dowagiac, his children Colin (Dana) Clark of Elkhart, Holly (Ryan) Poland of Jacksonville, FL, step daughter Rhonda (Steve) Longley of South Bend, father and step mother Ken (Cheryl) Clark of Cassopolis, grandchildren Hayden Clark, Evangeline and Pax Poland, sister Kay (Kevin) Cox of South Bend, brothers Gary (Lynda) Clark of Cincinnati, and Kent Clark of Dowagiac, father in law Arthur Middleton of Dowagiac, brother in law Robert (Melissa) Middleton of Dowagiac, sister in laws Barbara (Darren) Etzel of Dowagiac, and Caryl (James) Forgerty of Benton Harbor, three aunts Marabeth Wright, Shirley Slaughter and Sharon Bassett, former spouse Janice Hayden of Edwardsburg, special fishing buddies Robert Birkhold, Ed Booth, Joel Okonski, and Bill Kroepel and several nieces and nephews. Greg passed away on Friday December 31, 2010 at his home. He is preceded in death by his mother Harriett Clark, aunt Billie Clark and mother in law Joretta Middleton. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where his funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. led by family friend Doug Clark.
