Matthew Kohler

Matthew Thomas James Kohler, 35, of Stevensville died Friday, May 2, 2003. Matthew was born on July 22nd, 1967 to Thomas and Amy (Kowalski) Kohler in Traverse City, Michigan. He spent his childhood in Northport, where he graduated from Northport Public School in 1985. Matthew married Stephanie Watkins at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on April 7, 1990. Matthew lived life to the fullest, enjoying camping and hunting, always looking for time to be with the people he loved. Matthew was an adoring husband, a loving father, a devoted son, and a committed brother. Involved in sports and scouts throughout his own childhood, Matthew spent time leading Jacob?s scout troop and coaching Noah?s soccer team. Matthew was an entrepreneur at heart and was most recently attending classes toward a double bachelor?s degree. Matthew had a contagious smile and a zest for life. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Matthew is survived by his wife Stephanie; two sons Jacob and Noah; his parents Thomas and Amy Kohler of Northport, Michigan; his siblings: Mollie (Christopher) Brendel of Farmington Hills, Michigan; Adam (Christina) Kohler of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; Aaron (Kate) Kohler of Seoul, South Korea; Laura Kohler, Alan Kohler, and Cecilia Kohler. He is preceded in death by his son Simon Dean Kohler on February 24, 2002. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials will be made to Jacob and Noah?s college fund.
