Martha's Obituary

Martha M. Huizinga, 84, of Watervliet, MI, died Wednesday, May 28, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 11:30AM, with Rev. Richard Wilson officiating, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9:30AM ? 11:30AM. Cremation will follow services, with private family burial at a later date in the Coloma Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice At Home of South Haven or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Sodus. Friends wishing to leave a message of condolence, or to sign the family guest book, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com Martha was born on August 22, 1918, in Humboldt, Tennessee, to George and Mary Ethel (Jackobs) Thompson. On April 20, 1984, in St. Joseph, she married John Huizinga, he survives. She worked as an assembler, and retired as a supervisor, at VM for 30 years. Martha was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She loved to travel with her husband, and especially loved to spend time with her family. Another of her joys was to sit outside in her swing with her ?baby girl,? Gabby, her dog. Her survivors include her husband John; son, William (Mary) Vosburg of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren, Kevin (Julie) Bohle, William (Cheryl) Vosburg, Keith Soulard, Brian (Lori) Vosburg, Kelli Abbott and Broni Fege; eight Great-Grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Crystal and Hannah Vosburg, Gus and Katie Bohle, Ethan Fege, and Taylor Abbott; two Step-Children, John (Myrna) Huizinga of Scotts, MI and Steve (Mary) Huizinga of Freesoil, MI; a Step-Grandson, Keith (Susan) Huizinga; two Step-Great-Grandchildren, Kimberly and Ashlee Huizinga; a Brother, LaVonne Thompson of Missouri; a Brother-In-Law, Gene Hamilton; a niece, Beverly Politte; and her dog Gabby. Mrs. Huizinga is preceded in death by her first husband, William Vosburg; a daughter, Renee Fege; brother, Bert Thompson; and a sister, Laura Mae Hamilton.
