St. Joseph?Patricia Ann ?Pat? Damico, 67, was called home by her Blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 26, 2005. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph with Msgr. Eugene Sears & Msgr. Thomas Martin as co-celebrants. Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph where Liturgical Prayers will be offered at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. Pat was a pillar of this community who devoted her live in service to her husband, family, and friends. She loved all God?s children and is best known for teaching hundreds of area residents how to swim. She taught swimming for over 25 years, first at the YWCA and then in her own pool at her home in St. Joseph. Twenty years ago, Pat went back to school and graduated from Lake Michigan College?s nursing program, serving the community as a Registered Nurse at Lakeland Hospital until she retired in 1998. Pat was a loving wife and mother who married her sweetheart, Philip G. Damico, on November 9, 1957. Both Pat and Phil could always be seen attending, encouraging, and cheering on her children at all of their sporting activities. More recently, she would cheer her loving grand-children on at their sporting activities. Pat truly loved her Savior, Jesus. She became a Eucharistic Minister and scripture reader for St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her Irish heritage and was a really huge Notre Dame fan. She was also a member of Monday Musical and had a great love for animals. Patricia is survived by her husband, Philip Damico, St. Joseph; four sons?Thomas (Karen) Damico, Spring, TX, Steve (Carla) Damico, Stevensville, Mike (Chris) Damico, St. Joseph, John (Tami) Damico, St. Joseph: eleven grandchildren?Christy (Jason)Pruett, St. Joseph; Danielle Damico, Stevensville; Shaya, Kaianne, Bailey & Anthony Damico, St. Joseph; Ashley & Chad Glass, Philip and Dominic Damico, St. Joseph; Jennifer (Andy) Davies; great-grandchildren?Isaiah and Adam Pruett, St. Joseph; an identical twin sister Peggy Shepardson, Niles; sister Judy Nicklo, CA and brother Michael Grimes, Watervliet, Her father, Franklin Grimes, really loved Christmas. Pat carried the torch of that love to her family lavishing them with a great overflow of gifts at Christmas and Easter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin & Nadine (Chapman) Grimes, her daughter Debbie and her father-in-law Thomas ?Tony? Damico.She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her until the day when, as redeemed believers in Christ, we can rejoice together with her again in Our Father?s Heavenly Kingdom.
