Sarah Ellen Cassandra “Cassie” Ledyard, 86, of Stevensville, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Lakeland Continuing Care in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Kerley- Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening between 5:00-8:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Berrien County Sportsman’s Club or to Hospice at Home. She was one of three children born to Frank and Ellen Scott. On August 13, 1941 she married Kenneth Ledyard in Benton Harbor. Together they had 4 children, Sandra, Donna, Kenneth, & Robert. Cassie was an active volunteer in several local organizations including, Hospice, the Lakeland Cancer Service, Berrien County Sportsman’s Club, Friendship Club, and the Widow & Widower’s Club. She loved gardening and cooking. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one was extremely special to her. She is survived by her children, Sandra (George) Stover of Berrien Springs, Donna (David) Kerschbaum of St. Joseph, Kenneth (Christy) Ledyard of St. Louis, MO, and Robert (Samie) Ledyard of Grand Junction, MI; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Small of Benton Harbor; and her special friends, Erna Hauch, Evelyn Lavanway, and Leona Kuball. In addition to her parents, Cassie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1977; brother, Frank Scott; and her granddaughter, Casey Ledyard.
