Katherine McAlister

Katherine McAlister, 58, of Dowagiac, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side.  A Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, 3:00pm, at Riverside Cemetery, Riverside Drive and Hill St., Dowagiac, MI.  After the service there will be a gathering at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 101 E. Railroad St., Dowagiac, MI.  Katherine was born July 6, 1955, in Phoenix, AZ to her parents Charles Kenneth and Hazel (Campbell) McAlister.  She spent many years working within the child care occupation.  Katherine enjoyed her truck, traveling, gardening, cooking & cleaning, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.  Her surviving family includes her children: David (Darcie) Beattie of New York, Danny Beattie of Kentucky, Kristine Beattie of Dowagiac, Kimberly Beattie of Dowagiac, and Stephanie Elliott of Dowagiac; her grandchildren: Mackenna Beattie, Maddison Beattie, Destiny Beattie, Samantha Beattie, Amber Beattie, Codi Northrop, Kimi Beattie, Ashton Holloway, Austin Widener, Peyton Widener, Landon Turnbow, Kellee Williams, Matti Rhody, McCallie Ward, Jonathyn Richey and Layla Wood; her siblings; Louis (Shirley) McAlister of AZ, Larry McAlister of AZ, Steven (Laura) McAlister of Grand Rapids, MI, David McAlister of AZ and Karen Harp of Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughters Elizabethe Northrop, Seirah Widener and Haley Beattie; a brother-in-law Charlie Bob Harp; and a loving other, Steve Elliott.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or on face book at GiveForward.com.  Please take a moment to sign Katherine’s guestbook, leave a condolence, or share a memory of her at the Clark Chapel and Cremation Services website: www.clarkch.com.
