Richard L Clark

Richard L. Clark Sr, 78, Dowagiac, MI, passed away  on Sunday, May 25 2014, in Dowagiac MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M Wednesday May 28, 2014, at Clark Chapel and Cremations Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI.  Friends may visit from 5 to 8:00 P.M on Tuesday May 27, 2014, at Clark Chapel. Richard will be laid to rest at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, MI. after the service.   Memorial Contributions can be made in his name to the building fund for the Michiana Christina Church. Richard was born to Harry and Mabel (Deuel) Clark on June 6th, 1935 in Grawn, MI. Richard retired as a Captain from the Cass County Sherriff Dept. in 1985 after 18 years of service. In his younger years he enjoyed stock car racing.  Richard was known as a man of integrity, if it was right then it was right and if it was wrong it was wrong. He believed that a man’s word was his bond. Richard was known as a man who was selfless, loving and giving.  He was loved by all and thought of as a big teddy bear, frequently referred to as “Hoss”.  During his illness he maintained his Christian belief, never questioning why, just knowing God had a plan.  He will be missed by many who loved him dearly. Richard is survived by a daughter Lynn (Prent) Clark, 2 sons; Rex (Vickie) Clark and Bill (Paula) Clark; stepchildren; Terri Stull, Mike Lesiewicz, Tim Roberts, Joe Roberts and Steve Roberts, grandchildren David Clark, Angela Clark-Groves, Sandra Cook, Kimberly Weed, Timothy Clark, Daniel Clark, Ricky Phillips, Stephanie Clark, Justin Stoll, Nicholas Stoll, Shelly Hooper, Joshua Lesiewicz, 14 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Harry and Carroll Clark, 3 sisters; Betty Reamer, Bonnie Rosenburg, Barbara Muth. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, , 2 sons Richard and  Robert Clark, a sister Beatrice Fulton, and a brother Roy Clark.
