JoAnn L. Sampley

JoAnn L. (Brosnan) Sampley, 64, of Dowagiac, passed away on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday July 25, 2014, at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Father Kevin Covert officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8 PM. Burial will be at a later date at the Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cass County 4H Leaders Association. JoAnn was born in Dowagiac, MI., on February 4, 1950 to Thomas and Maxine (Kidman) Brosnan.  She was a lifelong resident of Dowagiac graduating from Eau Claire School in 1969 received two Associates Degrees from Southwestern Michigan College. She was married to Eugene Mark Stockwell for 27 years. JoAnn married Daniel Sampley in Dowagiac on September 16, 2000.  JoAnn worked at Contech/Sealed Power for 34 years, she was currently a homemaker; she loved having her grandchildren around her as much as possible.  Her children fondly remember her making them a favorite cake for their birthday.  JoAnn was a Cass County 4H volunteer and leader of the North Red Hill Club for over 30 years, she was very active with her grandchildren; helping them ready animals for showing at the fair, watching sporting events, or sitting through dance recitals. She was also a member of the Ladies Of The Moose Club, at one time serving as an officer. She is survived by her husband Daniel Sampley, her 3 children; Susan(Jeffrey) Stockwell-Conklin of Marcellus, Eugene (Denise) Stockwell of Dowagiac and Mike (Jennifer) Stockwell also of Dowagiac, 7 grandchildren: Jessica, Kevin and TJ Conklin, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Olivia and Brianna Stockwell, siblings; Clara (Steve) Rybuck, Betty (Kenny) Muirhead, Diane Slone, Anita (Harry) Beach, Tom Brosnan and Sally (Mark) Swartz. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Eugene Mark Stockwell and a sister Peggy Brosnan
