Rosemary's Obituary

Rosemary Bartee, 90, of Dowagiac, (formerly of Portsmith, Ohio), passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born December 3rd, 1923 in Ironton, Ohio to Steward and Ella (Shope) Delawder. She married George D. Bartee on July 23, 1940 in Vanceburg, Kentucky. She is survived by 2 daughters, Shirley (Roy) Faulks of Dowagiac, Gloria Mills of Dowagiac and 2 sons, Thomas (Paula) Bartee of Watervliet and Tim (Kimberly) Bartee of Coloma. She is also survived by one sister, Gladys Emily Huston of Columbus, Ohio. Rosemary was also a grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Rev. George D. Bartee as well as two children, Karen Sue and James Mitchell Bartee and by two brothers, Norman E. and William H. Delawder. Rosemary was the most perfect “mom”, not only to her family but many others that she dearly cared for. She was a wonderful caregiver and enjoyed country and gospel music all her life. She spent most of her life in Portsmith, Ohio where she was employed for a time at a local nursing home as a dietary supervisor. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 15th at 2 p.m. following a visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Blue Roof First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Avenue, St. Joseph, MI. with Pastor Bobby Jackson officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bartee family, c/o Tim Bartee. Burial will take place on Wednesday, September 17 with graveside service at 11 a.m. in Vernon Cemetery, Wheelersburg, Ohio. Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac is serving the family.
