Alice E. Cole

Alice E. Cole, 93, of Stevensville, MI went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 10, 2009. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph, MI. Alice was born on October 17, 1915 in St. Joseph, MI to John and Elizabeth (Lucker) Kelley. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1932, and attended Lake Michigan College. Alice worked as a bookkeeper/secretary in various offices including Attorney Elden Butzbaugh, Prudential Ins. Co. and Mercy Hospital. On November 21, 1936 she married Ralph Franklin Cole. He preceded her in death in 1977. Alice was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in St. Joseph. She was a 4-H Leader over 20 years, and was also a child evangelism leader. Alice is survived by her children-Constance Cole Oliver of Stevensville, Bruce (Valorie) Cole of Joseph, and Darlene (Ray) King of Ft. Wayne, IN; grandchildren-Debra(Robert)Oliver Mischke, Lisa(Roland)Oliver Herbstreit, Julie(Jeff)Cole Scott, Jon(Sheila)Cole, Michael(Amber)King, Ryan(Rebecca)King and Lori Cole; and many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents-John and Elizabeth, her husband-Ralph, a son-Keith, grandson Kevin Oliver, sisters-Noreen Jensen and Phyllis Davidson Mull, and a brother-Gaynor Kelley. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 1:00pm, at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Grange Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Visitation is on Monday, October 12, from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
