Elisabeth F. Schreyer Elisabeth F. Schreyer, 91, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of St. Joseph, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, after a very short stay at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo, Mich. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Oakridge Baptist Church, 766 Oakridge Dr., St. Joseph, with Rev. Nick Jackson officiating. Visitation will be at noon at the church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Kairos Dwelling, a loving home for terminally ill people, 2945 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49048, (269) 381-3688. Elisabeth was born January 6, 1918, in Eisenach, Germany, to Wilhelm and Berta Wistorf. In 1942, Elisabeth married Kurt Schreyer, and they were blessed with four children. In 1958, the family came to the U.S., eventually settling in Benton Harbor, and later, St. Joseph, where they owned the Bavarian Haus custom framing shop. Years later, when Kurt and Elisabeth retired and sold their business and house in St. Joseph, they did some traveling in the U.S. and Germany, and settled in Lakeland, Fla., and eventually, St. Petersburg, Fla. Well into their later years, they often traveled to Germany and Michigan to visit friends and family. Elisabeth is survived by her son Juergen Schreyer and his wife Jutta of Germany; her daughter Ruth Miller of Hendersonville, NC; three grandchildren in the U.S., Denise Miller, Michael Schreyer and Andrea Miller; three grandsons in Germany, Jonathan, Benjamin and Roland Schreyer; two sisters in Germany, Ursula Braun and Ilse Prell; one great-grandson, Zachary Van Sweden; former daughter-in-law Dorothy Oberheu; former son-in-law Harry Miller; “adopted” granddaughter Amanda Oberheu; and many cherished friends throughout the U.S. and Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kurt, in 2006; her son Peter Schreyer in 1972; her daughter Christa Schreyer in 1982; and three brothers and two sisters.
