Gola Edwards

Sodus, MI. – Gola E. Edwards, 74, of Sodus, MI., went to be with her Lord Savior on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at her home. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 4071 Naomi Rd., Sodus, MI. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The arrangements are entrusted with Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist. Gola was born on December 21, 1935 in Hackleburg, AL to Johnnie and Ola (Mitchell) Fredrick. She later married Chuck Edwards on January 12, 1952 in Benton Harbor, MI. Gola loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed camping and traveling. Gola was employed at Kreamo Bakers for over 30 years. Gola is survived by her husband of 58 years, Chuck, a son, Richard (Bobbi) Edwards of Sodus, grandchildren, Jesse and Stewart Edwards and great grandchildren, Peyton and Kobe Aubill. She is also survived by two sisters, Martha (Charlie) DiGiavonna and Patricia (John) McDaniel and three brothers, Joe (Jan) Fredrick, Ricky (Pam) Fredrick and Carl (Helen) Fredrick and 22 nephews and nieces. Gola was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Victor Edwards and his wife, Faith and a brother, John Fredrick.
