Major's Obituary

Major Dean Glendening, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away July 16, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 19, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St Joseph with Rev. David Colp officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. He married the love of his life, Shirley Newton, and together they enjoyed 61 happy years before she passed away last August. Major was the Vice President of Engineering at F.P. Rosback, and he retired in 1989. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, woodworking, stained glass cutting, & reading. Major is survived by his daughter Deborah (Paul) Okeley of Niles; two sons Larry (Chris) Glendening of St. Joseph and Jeffrey (Sara) Glendening of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Wray, Nicole (Brant) Schweigert, Brad (Erica) Okeley, Bryan (Amber) Glendening, Allan Glendening and Liam Glendening; five great grandchildren Katelyn & Allison Glendening and Marcus & Kaylee Schweigert, and Addison Okeley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walter Glendening.
