Harold “Hetz†Edmund Stubalt, 85, of Benton Harbor, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A Memorial Service will be held10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church 404 E. Glenlord Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Michigan Lutheran High School. Those wishing to sign Harold's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Harold was born December 28, 1925 in Benton Harbor to Adolf & Natalie (Freier) Stubalt and baptize at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Harold graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1943.On August 19, 1950, he married the former Ruth Marie Heritz at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Harold was employed by Remington Rand for 21 years until they closed. He pitched for the Remington Rand softball team and in his spare time enjoyed bowling and golf. He was employed by Whirlpool for 23 years, retiring in 1987 and also operated the family fruit and vegetable farm in Benton Harbor. His produce was some of the favorites at the Benton Harbor Market and at his roadside stand. Harold was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.
Harold is survived by his wife Ruth; three daughters Susan Franco of Benton Harbor, Mary Fenrick of Sodus, Shirley Stubalt of Benton Harbor; one son Douglas (Dayna) Stubalt of San Jose, CA; 4 grandchildren Brandon, Shanna, Aaron, and Julianne Stubalt; his sister Eleanor (Robert) Willis of St. Joseph;and many nieces and nephews . Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law David Fenrick, three sisters Pauline Nernberg, Elsie Litke, Helen Platts; and brothers Arnold Stubelt, Leonard Stubalt.
