Dorothy Ann “Dory” Ludlam-Lassiter passed away peacefully on March 16, 2012, at University Good Samaritan Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was 51. Dory is survived by her children, Ryan Lassiter of South Bend, Indiana, Rachel Lassiter of Highland, Indiana, and Hallie Lassiter of Davis, California; mother Dorothy Ludlam (nee Robinson) of Allegan, Michigan; siblings Mike (Heather) Ludlam of Hopkins, Michigan, Bob (Jill) Ludlam of Naperville, Illinois, Karen (Stan) Hokanson of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Jay (Holly) Ludlam of Chicago, Illinois; mother-in-law Maudell Lassiter of Niles, MI; and many beloved nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kim Lassiter, and her father, R. Joseph Ludlam. A memorial and liturgical service will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m., at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Michigan, with Fr. William Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Dory was born on April 5, 1960, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She is a graduate of Lake Michigan Catholic High School in St. Joseph, Michigan, and received her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. Dory earned numerous accolades in her early career in sales with companies such as 3M and Granger, and while raising her family in New Carlisle, Indiana, became an avid collector and dealer of antiques. Dory’s love for her children, husband, and family will always be remembered first. Memories of her individual sense of humor will be cherished by those who knew her, as well as her appreciation for adventure in life, and an uncanny ability to somehow get what she wanted. The family wishes to recognize the indescribable support over the years demonstrated by so many who loved Dory, especially her dear cousins Carl and Marcia Schwedler, Jane Wood, Mary Koehler, Beth Weichhand, and Kathy Grozenski. The family would also like to express their deepest appreciation to the amazing, dedicated caregivers at University Good Samaritan Center in Minneapolis.
