John A. Jones

John A. Jones, Sr., died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted with Starks & Menchinger Chapel of St. Joseph. John was born on June 6, 1964 in Fulton, MS to Jessie and Josie (Cummings) Jones, Jr. He worked in management at various area Burger Kings, was a former insurance agent and also a former employee of Bosch Braking Systems. John was a member of Overflow Church in Benton Harbor. He loved children, dogs, cadillacs, sports and people-he was a stranger to no one. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 13, 12 noon, at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 245 Pipestone, Benton Harbor, MI, with Rev. Brian Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Visitation is one hour prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. till 12 noon at the church. Friends wishing to leave a message of condolence for the family may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com John is survived by his mother, Josie Jones of Benton Harbor; his wife, Angela of Benton Harbor; his children, sons-John Jones, Jr. of grand Rapids, and Jaquantae Jones of Benton Harbor and daughters-Joneshia Jones of Grand Rapids, Jocelyn (Antonio) Dinkins of Jacksonville, NC and Jalia Jones of Benton Harbor; a step-daughter-Stephanie Perkins of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; three sisters-Waynette, Diane and Charlotte Jones all of Benton Harbor; four aunts-Channie Green of Detroit, Gennieve (Mat) Dean, Nelter Christian and Fay Whitlock all of Benton Harbor; one uncle-Cloise (Robbie) Cummings of Benton Harbor; in-laws-Robert (Welthy) Hampton of Benton Harbor; a nephew,two nieces, 2 step-nephews, seven great nieces; and his special friend-Yulanda Hall. He is preceded in death by his father-Jessie; a sister-Ramonnica; aunt-Nona Nichols; uncle-Allen Meryl Cummings; and granparents-Jennie and Wynona Cummings; and special cousin-Richard Nichols. John will be missed by his family and many friends.
