Eleanor M. “Ellie” Edmunds, 83, of Bridgman, passed away, Friday, November 30, 2012 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph with Fr. William J. Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Cremation will follow the service with family services to follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, with Liturgical Prayers recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. Ellie was born March 5, 1929 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Peter & Margaret Creo. She graduated in 1947 from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and obtained her RN Degree from St. Joseph Hospital, also in Carbondale. On November 22, 1951, she married Joseph Edmunds in Carbondale. Ellie was employed for forty-five years as a Registered Nurse for an oral surgery practice in Syracuse, NY. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and in her spare time enjoyed skiing, the out of doors, traveling, cooking, sewing and spending time with her friends & family-especially her grandchildren.
Ellie is survived by her husband Joseph; her daughter Mary (Frank) DeFrancesco of St. Joseph; two grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Nana”, Aimee & Grant DeFrancesco; her sister Catherine O’Byrne of Winter Park, FL; and special friends-Mary’s in-laws-Paula & Vito DeFrancesco of Spinks Corners and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters-Candy Desien, Mary Angello, Lucy Sweeney & Angie Angello.
