Frances Marguerite “Peggy” Bentley, 87, of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier Ave, Benton Harbor. Friends may visit from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Peggy was born July 27, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Elwood & Muriel (Westerton) Smith. On January 25, 1958, she married Edward “Bill” Bentley in Chicago. Peggy was a charter member of Fairplain Presbyterian Church, where she was active in many activities over the last fifty-five years, her favorite being a choir member. She was also a member of the Civic Benefit Club where she served three terms as president. Peggy devoted her life to her family and cherished the time spent with them. Peggy is survived by her husband Bill; her children-Jack Bentley of Benton Harbor, Pete (Lora) Bentley of Granger, IN, Jane (Mike) Wing of Plymouth, MI; and six grandchildren-Amanda, Shelby, Megan, Austin, Adam and Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by siblings-Virginia Darnell, Patricia McGuire and Johnny Smith.
