Richard's Obituary
Richard H. Coldren, 86, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Golden Age Manor in Stevensville.
Friends may gather from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop 623. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Those wishing to share a memory of Richard online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Richard was born February 27, 1927 in Evanston, IL to Raymond & Marie (Harris) Coldren. He graduated from Evanston High School in 1944 and Northwestern University, Evanston, with a degree in business in 1950. He married Aileen “Sallie” Anderson on May 13, 1982 in Deerfield, IL. Richard served as a timekeeper at Northwestern football and basketball games. He also was a director of the Midlands Holiday Wrestling Tournament. He is in the IL wrestling Hall of Fame. Richard was a boy scout leader, having earned the ranks of Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the Stevensville American Legion. He enjoyed playing tennis and played the trombone in the Southshore Band.
He is survived by his wife Sallie; children Thomas (Alice) Coldren of Arizona, Jane Devine of Illinois, and Joanne (Larry) Marchionda of Wisconsin; step-children Nancy Anderson of St. Joseph, Keith Anderson of Illinois, Merrilee Anderson of Eau Claire, and Karen (Bruce) Molineaux of St. Joseph; grandchildren Erik (Rachael) Molineaux, Amelia Cypert, Elizabeth Cypert, Blair Devine, Cory Molineaux, Julie Scott, Joseph Cypert, Jennifer Coldren, Amanda Coldren, Emma Anderson, and Daisy Anderson; great-grandchildren Madison Molineaux and Nyla Drake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife Alice in 2004 and by a brother James Coldren in 2011.
