Linda Kay Gustafson

Linda Kay Gustafson, 63, of St. Joseph passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11: 00 AM Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Saron Lutheran Church, 510 Main St., St. Joseph with Pastor Joan E. Oleson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to The Alex Mandarino Foundation. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.starksfamilyfh.com.  On June 26, 1950 Linda was born to William and Mary (Austin) Gilbert in Niles, MI. Linda graduated from Niles High School in 1968 and remained involved with a close group of classmates. She then went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in accounting from Southwestern Michigan College. On May 10, 1975 Linda married Daniel Gustafson at Saron Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. She was the Office Manager for Michigan State Extension Service of Berrien County. Linda and her family are avid Detroit Tigers fans and also spent time playing cards and dominos. Linda and Dan also enjoyed attending jazz concerts in the summer and taking her grandchildren to the Silver Beach Carousel. She touched many lives and was very involved with her children and grandchildren.  Linda is survived by her husband Daniel, a daughter, Mary Kay (Allan) Brown of Schaumburg, IL; a son Andy Gustafson (Kylee Mudd) of St. Joseph; her grandchildren Nathan & Julia Brown and one grandchild on the way; a brother Larry Gilbert of Dowagiac, MI; a sister Nancy (Dale) Chadderdon of Tecumseh, MI and a niece Reanna Gilbert of Niles, MI.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-mother Janie Gilbert and a nephew O’Rion Gilbert.
